The Arthur Ross Terrace and Garden the rehabilitation of the historic garden at the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum. RAFT’s work implements pavements suspended above soil, high performance turf, and engineered soils which work together to enable the landscape to support increased visitorship and new programming targets for this cherished garden.

The reconstruction includes a realization of The Rockery, an incomplete feature from the original Richard Schermerhorn design. This feature is composed using giant Manhattan schist boulders salvaged from the site and reorganized into a composed garden.

In collaboration with Hood Design and Diller Scofidio + Renfro.
