Heroic Food Farm is a long-range plan for the transformation of a 20-acre property in Hudson, New York into a campus for military veterans engaged in a residential training program in sustainable farming. The new campus provides a supportive home which fosters community and reintegration, encouraging residents to participate in communal life while also providing them with opportunities for solitary experience. Residents can be engaged without feeling overwhelmed and secure without feeling isolated.  Physical elements of exterior space—plantings, walls, grade changes, etc.—work to define thresholds which subtly articulate zones of use within the landscape.

Heroic Food is a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing military veterans for careers in sustainable farming in a veteran-supportive environment. Their mission addresses both the aging population of farmers and high unemployment of young military veterans by connecting veterans with mentor farmers to gain hands-on experience.
