bridging communities through public participation
Opening the Edge seeks to design a new green space to facilitate interaction between residents in New York City’s public housing developments and the larger neighborhood.
Rebecca Hill is the Design Trust for Public Space Landscape Architecture Fellow working with other Fellows and resident’s of NYCHA’s Lillian Wald Houses to turn currently fenced off lawn into an asset for the community. This engagement process and the resulting design will serve as a prototype for re-thinking how green space around public housing can be more productive and affirming.
Opening the Edge is a project funded and initiated through the Design Trust for Public Space.
