The Tenuta San Carlo Landscape Framework is a long-range flexible plan for this 1200-acre coastal farm and cattle ranch. Set within the Maremma region of Italy, where a vast delta landscape was first managed for agricultural landscape by the ancient etruscans. Our plan compliments the effort underway to transition the agricultural operation to organic, higher-value production with the codification of powerful landscape experiences around which new ecotourism, agritourism, and conference center functions will be organized. 

On the property, the ancient water infrastructure patterns interact with shifting coastal influences of salt and sand. Marshlands increasingly dominate over pine plantations as the land approaches the Mediterranean Sea. Simple adjustments to the building/landscape interface help amplify the emotional impact of this striking productive landscape.
